BIOGRAPHY
In 1995, Kal Penn moved to Los Angeles to study at the prestigious UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, where he majored in film and sociology. He began his career as an actor in several independent films. But his big film role came in the comedy Harold and Kumar – Night Adventure (2004), which had an excellent reception and spawned several sequels. In 2007 he joined the main cast of the television series House . In 2009, he joined the Obama administration as Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement. In July 2011, he temporarily left the White House to accept a role in the television series How I Met Your Mother . From 2016 to 2019, he played Seth Wright on the political drama Designated Survivor , also serving as a consultant on the show. In 2021 it is part of the new CBS series Clarice , a look at the untold personal story of FBI agent Clarice Starling, when she returns to the field a year after the events that occurred in The Silence of the Lambs (1991).
