BIOGRAPHY
A juggler and amateur magician, the young Patrick Dempsey quickly found his way to the stage to devote himself to comedy. After training in a local troupe in his native state of Maine, the actor distinguished himself in a performance in San Francisco in the early 1980s, then toured for a year in the production “Brighton Beach Memoirs ” . The year 1985 marked his first film appearance in the comedy Heaven Help Us with Donald Sutherland .
After an excursion to the small screen the following year in the short series Fast Times (1986), Patrick Dempsey largely devoted the rest of his career to feature films. He multiplies the roles and comedies by successively playing a high school student in search of popularity ( L’Amour ne s’achat pas , 1987), a pizza delivery man (Loverboy, 1989), and a rebellious brother ( Coupé de Ville , 1990) . In 1991, he returned to New York at the turn of the century to slip into the shoes of gangster Meyer Lansky, Christian Slater ‘s partner in The Untamed , before investigating the murders in Scream 3 (2000) under the direction of Wes Craven . Two years later, he seduced Reese Witherspoon in the romantic comedy Fashion Victim (2002).
Patrick Dempsey is also very successful on television. In 1993, he made a notable portrayal of the future President Kennedy in the ABC miniseries, JFK: Reckless Youth . A few TV films later, he played recurring characters in Second Chance (2000), Will & Grace (2001) and The Practice (2004). He was hired at Seattle Grace Hospital in 2005 in the revelation series of the year on ABC, Grey’s Anatomy . He plays the attractive Doctor Shepherd who does not leave the intern Meredith Gray ( Ellen Pompeo ) indifferent. The series enjoyed great success and lasted until 2015.
At the same time and after the end of the famous program, the actor joined the cast of several romantic films, such as Once Upon a Time… (2007), The Lovers’ Witness (2008), Valentine’s Day (2010) and Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016), the third part devoted to the most famous London single woman.
