BIOGRAPHY
The actor, Rami Said Malek, was born on May 12, 1981 in Los Angeles, California, United States. He was born into an Egyptian Orthodox Coptic family, he has an identical twin brother and an older sister. He studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Evansville in Indiana. He began his acting career in 2004 as a guest star on the television series Gilmore Girls and doing voices for the video game “Halo 2.” In 2006 he made his film debut as Pharaoh Ahkmenrah in the comedy Night at the Museum, reprising his role in the sequels Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009) and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014).
He has acted for projects such as The War at Home (2005-2007), the HBO miniseries The Pacific (2010), Larry Crowne (2011), The Master (2012), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (2012), the independent film Is not Them Bodies Saints (2013) and Short Term 12 (2013). He also participated in the video game Until Dawn (2015) as Joshua “Josh” Washington.
He won the Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice Award and Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his lead role as Elliot Alderson in the series Mr. Robot.
In 2016 he played his first leading role in Buster’s Mal Heart and the following year he participated in Papillon (2017). Among his latest performances is that of Freddie Mercury in the Queen biographical film, Bohemian Rhapsody (2018).
